Nick and Renee actually married over a year ago but had a reception on their first anniversary and asked us along for the ride. And we’re so glad they did! Their wedding reception was a light-filled celebration of their marriage and it was lovely to see how a year-long-married couple chose to celebrate their union. As it turns out, a family ready to enjoy the evening and a few well-chosen details are all you need to celebrate a wedding reception in “The Cave” of the Aerie at Eagle Landing.
They arranged for all the trappings of s’mores since they had the handy fire pits included in their choice or Portland wedding venues! And they were well used with guests of all ages loving them.
Renee and Nick included quite a few little touches that personalized their wedding reception. Not only did they ask family friends to play music for the evening, Nick’s dad joined in on the guitar for a while. Can you tell he enjoyed it?
The couple of the day also roasted a few marshmallows along with enjoying their cake:
And as the sun began to set they walked over to the mini golf area to putt a few.
We ended the evening with a sunset portrait session for them – one of the things Renee was very much looking forward to on her wedding reception day. Fun little fact: this is not Renee’s first wedding gown. It’s not even her second! She wanted a shorter dress for the wedding reception and ordered one online but it came in looking nothing like the photo so she got a whole new gown days before the reception. I’m thinking she lucked out because the FOURTH dress was great and I’d never know from looking that she got just in the nick of time.
