It’s been well over a year since we last posted a photograph from Jess and Tom’s Long Beach engagement session. In that post, I wrote about why they chose Long Beach for their setting and why it was important to them. I’ll be mentioning it again, because the same reasons apply for why they centered a good majority of their wedding day around making coast wedding photos in Long Beach. They’re beach people, pure and simple. And though that hurricane pushed them out of the home and town they loved, they always come back for time at the coast.
First, however, we started the day at the home in which Jess grew up with her family. She got ready for the day in her mother’s room. She covered the “something borrowed” with jewelry from her aunt and the same Kate Spade wedding shoes her sister wore a few years ago.
Catholic Wedding Ceremony
Jess and Tom’s local parish wedding ceremony included many personal, touching elements. Their church itself had really lovely light which was so nice to see! Not the traditional long aisled church, we were able to get much closer to see some of the emotional moments of the ceremony. The deacon who officiated ended the ceremony serenading them with a song from Les Miserables much to the surprise of everyone, including Tom and Jess! But first, a few images from the beginning before the ceremony even began. Jess and her father had plenty of time to enjoy their last moments before marrying while Tom rather anxiously waited for everything to get started.
The next two images ended up being my favorites from the entire day. I love the look on Jess’s face as she gazes across to Tom. And Tom’s reaction photo to a funny moment in the ceremony is just perfect – we love ceremonies that are personal and meaningful and in which the couple can really focus on what’s going on around them.
Then, onto the Long Beach boardwalk for their wedding portraits near Hotel Allegria.
Coast Wedding Photos
Portrait? Moment? Both- Tom’s checking out his new wedding band!
The little hint of Jess’s smile as I photographed her all in lace. It’s no wonder this is one of her own favorite photos.
Bridgeview Yacht Club Wedding Reception
Just after arriving at the reception, Mother Nature treated us to one of the most glorious sunsets I’ve seen in years. And then to a really, really great mashed potato bar at cocktail hour.
I spoke with Jess yesterday while going over her wedding album arrangements and received such a lovely compliment from her. We love what we do, creating a collection of still moments that tell the story of your wedding day. So when a bride says she truly adores every single image, it means the world to us. Thanks Jess!
